Chris (son) and Eileen (mom) Richardson started visiting Amador and El Dorado County in 2006 at the behest of their friend Heiri (RIP). Chris started dragging his love Devyn there too when they started dating 12 years ago. Chris and Eileen dreamed of owning a little slice of this heaven someday so after a lot of saving, they bought their property in 2021 and the grandkids named it "Samsquanch Mountain." Its more of a hill and we have never caught Mr. Squanch (Big Foot) on camera, but the name has stuck. Since 2025 Chris and Devyn have called it home and the family  has added camp sites, chickens, goats, an orchard, and a garden to create a place and edibles others can enjoy.
